ABOUT ME
Thank you for visiting my site. I am a vocal coach based out of Brooklyn and NYC. Originally from upstate NY, I left home early to attend Walnut Hill High School for the Arts, majoring in Musical Theatre. After my experience as a young performing artist, I obtained a BFA in Musical Theatre, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from The Boston Conservatory of Music at Berklee School of Music. Shortly after graduating I arrived at the decision that, while Musical Theatre would continue to inspire me vocally, I was eager to explore other styles of contemporary popular singing. As the daughter of two professors, it came as no surprise that I also found myself drawn to teaching voice.
Propelled forward by my thirst for broader and deeper vocal knowledge, I earned a Master of Music in Popular Music Performance with a focus in music education from The London College of Music, as well as a Masters of Science in Music Performance Science from the Royal College of Music, graduating both with distinction. In addition to further vocal education, these degrees equipped me with knowledge into the psychological aspects of music performance and education, including child development and music, peak performance and motivational theory, and the physical health and psychological wellbeing of musicians. My masters theses explored how to teach emotional expressivity to pop music singers and the challenges of vocal impairment on professional pop and musical theatre singers.
A key aspect of my interest in vocal education stems from my own experience with vocal impairment. At a young age I was treated for an ambiguous vocal issue, one that would not be properly diagnosed as a genetic condition for almost three decades. Even without a proper diagnosis I was aware of important challenges to my voice, and the sensitivity of my voice to misuse. This vocal issue ignited a deep curiosity into vocal function and vocal health, not only for myself but for any singer experiencing a lack of vocal ease and efficiency. It remains my mission to deeply and expansively understand, educate, and encourage the healthiest, most sustainable, efficient means of vocal function for all of my students.
